Vija Saar Wood (botanical name: Pterocarpus marsupium) is an Ayurvedic herb traditionally used for its benefits in managing diabetes, high blood pressure, liver health, rejuvenation, and tissue repair. The heartwood of the tree is what’s most commonly used, especially by soaking it in water.
✅ How to Use Vijaysar Wood in Water
Method 1: Soaking Overnight (Most Common)
- Take a piece of vijaysar wood or a few wood tumbler chips (also called “diabetic tumblers”).
- Place in a glass or clay vessel and pour around 200–300 ml of water over it.
- Let it soak overnight (8–12 hours).
- In the morning, the water will turn a reddish-brown color.
- Drink the water on an empty stomach.
- Discard the water and allow the wood to dry for reuse.
Optional: Some people boil the wood briefly and let it steep. However, soaking overnight is the most common and gentle method for long-term use.
♻️ How Long Can You Reuse the Wood?
- A single piece or set of chips can typically be reused for about 10 days, depending on how much color it releases into the water.
- Replace the wood when:
- The water no longer turns reddish-brown after soaking.
- The taste becomes bland.
- The wood seems worn out or moldy.
